When we talk about the science of joy, we end up with two primary questions: why do we feel joy? And how do we feel joy? And at the surface level, the answers to both are very basic. We feel joy because of chemical releases like serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins. How we feel joy focuses on how we get these hormones going. It could be meditation, painting, music, or even solving maths.
But we are not here to just scratch the surface; we are here to understand this science at a much deeper level. At a level where we feel this emotion in our mind, soul, and full inner being.
Are you willing to dive?
The Science of Science of Joy
Look above and what do you see? The sky. The stars, the galaxies, and as far as your eyes can reach. But what’s more astonishing is that our sight range doesn’t define the actual depth of the universe. Our mind can simply just imagine how it all must look, but for the time being, we limit ourselves.
Let’s talk about this, the limit. The restrictions we have make us feel bounded, don’t they? And that isn’t a very happy feeling, right? Just as a bird born in a cage has never felt the thrill of flight, it is confined to its cage. We are just like this bird; we don’t know what is beyond our limitations, and until we do, how can we know whether there is more joy out there or not?
Maybe the joy we feel here is still far less than what we can feel if we just had to not limit ourselves anymore! If only we were not hostages of narrow ideas and thinking!
And isn’t this what we as living beings crave so much, limitless joy?
But is it possible? To break free from these limitations and attain freedom?
Everything is possible as far as your mind goes…
The Mind: The Gateway From Being Limited To Limitless
Now, let us talk about this beautiful entity God has given us, our mind.
Firstly, make it clear what the difference is between your mind and your brain. The brain is our physical organ with nerve cells and can be touched, whereas our mind is a state of our mental being, a concept that cannot be touched, but rather only felt. Without the functioning and networking of the brain, the mind cannot exist.
So to understand our mind, we must look into our brains.
This organ is a majestic creation of cosmic power; every nerve, every curve of it is minutely detailed as if crafted by experienced hands. Now, this organ, just like every other entity in the universe, produces waves.
You see, every entity in our universe produces some kind of wave. According to quantum physics, everything is a wave. And our brain is not any different. The waves it produces when the neurons synchronize with their electrical activity have a wavelength, amplitude, and frequency.
And these factors in our brain activity make up our minds. It shapes our minds. It forms everything we feel. And ultimately, it sculpts our joy.
Now, What Are These Brain Waves?
There are mainly two types of waves at surface level division; crude and subtle. Crude waves are of higher frequency and shorter wavelengths whereas subtle are of lower frequency and longer wavelengths.
We can feel the joy that produces both kinds of waves. For instance, when you are really excited and happy and feel that rush of adrenaline, you produce crude waves. But you see, the rush of adrenaline is temporary.
We humans rather seek something more permanent, we seek joy that lasts longer, one that lasts forever.
How do we attain this eternal joy?
The Science of Eternal Joy
One can attain eternal joy only when one masters the peace of mind. Until you are at peace with yourself and your environment, you cannot feel joy. You cannot even imagine being joyous if you are in constant dispute with your thoughts.
Now, how do we find this peace? Well, there are many ways to do so.
We can practice mindfulness, meditate, read books, and listen to music that calms us down.
Or, well, in short, do activities that produce subtle waves.
Now, the issue here is that you cannot just keep doing any activity to keep yourself at peace; that sounds unconventional. I mean, can you keep listening to calm music? No, it’ll get annoying after some time. Can you keep reading? Keep meditating?
What I mean to say here is that to achieve eternal peace, you cannot rely upon a particular activity to keep producing subtle brain waves. Instead, you will need ways that promise you something that lasts forever.
Now, what is that something that lasts you forever, at least till death?
That’s right.
It’s you.
How Can You Bring Yourself Eternal Joy?
When was the last time you helped somebody? It could be any kind of help. You could have helped a stranger or even your friend, or your family. Recall any memory?
Now, how did you feel after helping? Were you angry? Sad? Envious?
Or were you … happy?
Remember when your classmate forgot their lunch and looked sad, and you offered them your lunch and shared and ate together? How did that make you feel? Upset he ate your food?
Or did you feel … happy?
An act of selflessness brings you some sort of self-content satisfaction; it brings you joy at a peaceful level, doesn’t it? And every time you think about it, you get a small smile on your face, don’t you?
So, selflessness and sharing bring more joy. You see, as humans, we are surely very complicated to decipher. God has made us this way, yet the thing is, it’s not that complicated either.
What I mean to say is that a simple act of service makes you feel happy, and when you don’t expect anything in return for that service, you’ll feel happier. Expectations bring disappointment sometimes, as they may not be fulfilled. But helping someone without expecting anything back brings you a contented feeling. You feel satisfied and even proud of yourself!
Now, of course, mastering the art of not expecting is easier said than done. But once you encode this in your mind, you become almost emotionally invincible. You’ll feel greater joy and also fulfilled. You’ll feel satisfied.
To Be Happy, You Must Be Full of Love
Ah, love, what an emotion it is.
The world looks so different when you are in love, or when you are full of it.
You see, being in love and being full of love have a thin line difference. When you are in love, you love somebody or something, but as unpredictable and unfair life can be sometimes, that thing or person can be taken away from you, leaving you with emotions like agony, anger, and sadness.
Which is natural, it is fully human.
But when you are full of love, it cannot be taken away from you. Even if you end up losing the entity you were in love with, the love inside you remains. It cannot decrease; it naturally stays within.
And because of this, you are capable of again falling in love as well, you still have the love to give. This is something powerful, and must not be underestimated at all.
To be able to help and share, you have to be full of love from inside because only love can make you help somebody or share things with somebody without any expectations of getting a service in return.
When you are full of love, you can easily love yourself as well as love those around you.
Hence, to be full of love is to be truly joyous. Eternally joyous.
The Science of Spirituality
The universe is a combination of waves, waves that are produced due to the vibrations of every entity present in it.
As stated before, according to quantum physics, everything is a wave. We even got our own waves! And every entity’s wave that resonates with ours tends to give us joy.
Spirituality helps you find your resonating wave.
Spirituality is a sense of connection with something bigger than ourselves. What could be bigger than us? The cosmic power, or well, God.
God is a debatable concept; many believe, and many don’t. But we all can surely agree that there is definitely a power that is greater than all of us. One true power.
Practicing spirituality helps you connect to that greater power, it helps you find your resonating wave somewhere, and brings you peace and joy. It helps you find your constructive wave, one that adds on and helps in increasing your wavelength.
Increased wavelength means a calmer mind. It brings you serenity, and hence, a sense of eternal joy.
The Ending Analysis of The Science of Joy
Within the premises of this blog, we discussed the science of joy at a much deeper level, covering quantum and spirituality and combining both to form a deeper level of understanding. The universe works in ways we cannot comprehend; nobody can justify or draw conclusions of anything. We can just observe.
Similarly, the science of joy lies behind buried truths in our lives. To love, to share, to be selfless, to believe in something greater than us, and to be free is to be truly happy, eternally.
To be satisfied by oneself and to have a calmer mind promises joy in a more fulfilling way.
To find a resonating wave that helps you connect to the cosmic power brings you joy.
The beautiful birds chirp
As i open my eyes and see
The world is my canvas
And my mind is my scene
To understand my joy
I must understand me
To feel this joy
I must open my mind and see
