Akhil Krishna, a prodigy, who has had no formal training on fine arts, has probably inherited and learnt the nuances of fine arts under the tutelage of his father – a renowned artist himself.
In this social art piece titled – “Divided we bleed”, Akhil illustrates his disquiet over the bloodshed and violence caused in the name of religion, sectarianism and nationalism. In this painting, the beautiful blue-green globe – our only home, is shown bleeding from the multiple stab-wounds of ensigns and emblems planted forcibly on her delicate and beautiful body. The beautiful globe which is otherwise so full of mirth, charm and appeal, seems to be heading towards a dark and grey future.
The artist brings home the point that – divided we shall all bleed towards destruction, hence we need to unite ourselves overcoming narrow outlooks and identities. With the spirit of optimism in mind, Akhil has created an extension of this piece of art, titled – “United we bloom”.
